The Nyeri Town Health Centre yesterday celebrated a vibrant Maternity Open Day, inviting the community—particularly expectant mothers, fathers, and their birth companions—to engage directly with healthcare providers. The event aimed to familiarize the public with the center’s services and birth procedures, fostering a greater understanding and trust in the healthcare system.
The Maternity Open Day highlighted the Nyeri Town Health Centre Maternity, a state-of-the-art 35-bed facility established through a collaboration between the Japanese Government, via JOICFP, and the County Government of Nyeri. This modern maternity unit is designed to enhance maternal and child health by providing a comfortable and safe environment close to the community.
In addition to maternity services, the centre offers a range of outpatient services including general consultations, laboratory tests, pharmacy, and a Comprehensive Care Clinic. The open day was instrumental in increasing the use and acceptance of maternal and child health services, improving knowledge, and promoting transparency. It also allowed attendees to become acquainted with the facility, its procedures, and its staff, thereby boosting confidence in the care provided.
The County Government of Nyeri reaffirmed its commitment to supporting maternal and child health, ensuring that all mothers have access to high-quality services and a safe environment during their care.
