The police are probing a disturbing case of femicide following the discovery of a woman’s body in her boyfriend’s home on Friday, November 1. This incident marks a troubling trend in the rising number of femicides across the country.
The victim, identified as Lilian Achieng Aluko, is believed to have been brutally murdered by her boyfriend, who has since fled the scene. A manhunt for the suspect is underway.
Lilian, a 33-year-old presenter at local station Radio 44, was discovered with severe facial injuries and a stab wound to the back of her neck. She had informed her family the previous day that she would be spending the night at her boyfriend’s residence—this was the last time they saw her alive.
According to police reports, Lilian sustained visible injuries and a stab wound behind her right ear. Neighbors reported hearing violent altercations coming from the house, but were unable to intervene due to the locked door and loud music.
A knife, believed to be the murder weapon, was recovered at the scene. Lilian’s family is urging police to apprehend the suspect, who remains at large.
Friends and family remember her as a vibrant and joyful person. Her sister expressed her heartbreak, stating, “I am heartbroken and devastated because her light has been taken too soon. What we wish for is justice for her.” A close friend lamented, “We have lost a very good girl at the hands of someone she probably loved deeply.”
