It is with deep sadness and humble acceptance that we announce the passing of Rt. Tr. Esther Wanjiru Githaiga, affectionately known as Mama Nderi, after a long illness. Her departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of her family, friends, and the community.
Born to the late John Muchiri Njagi and the late Shelmith Muthoni Muchiri, Esther was a beloved figure in her family and among her peers. She was a devoted wife to the late Cllr. John Githaiga Nderi and a nurturing mother to Augustine Nderi, Mercy Nyambura, Pauline Muthoni, Wambui Gikeri, and David Muchiri. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: George Mwangi, John Githaiga, Monica Wanjiru, Esther Joy Wanjiru, Bryan Ryan Githaiga, Naomi Wanjiku, Annabella Wanjiru, and Job Lenny Githaiga.
Esther’s warmth and kindness extended beyond her immediate family. She was a cherished sister to Margaret Wamahiiga, Benjamin Gakuhi, Rose Wangui, Joseph Gitonga, and Charles Ndirangu, as well as the late Alice Wangeci, Peter Maina, and Samuel Mwangi. Her family ties were a source of strength and support throughout her life.
Family and friends are gathering at her home in Kamakwa, Nyeri County, for prayers and burial preparations. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Peter & Paul Kamakwa Catholic Church, followed by her burial at her farm on November 14, 2024.
