The Board of KTDA Holdings has officially elected Mr. Chege Kirundi as its new National Chairman, succeeding Mr. Cess Nyerere, who held the position previously. Mr. Nyerere continues to serve as the Vice Chairman, ensuring continuity in leadership as the organization navigates the evolving tea industry landscape.
Mr. Kirundi, a prominent figure in the tea sector, is the founder and Managing Director of the Kiru Factory. He has been instrumental in transforming the tea value chain since the enactment of the 2020 Tea Act, which aimed to enhance the industry’s efficiency and productivity.
An accomplished legal professional, Mr. Kirundi is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a qualified Notary Public, and a certified Public Secretary (CPS). He is also a constitutional mediator and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), in addition to being a member of the Law Society of Kenya.
His extensive experience includes serving as a State Counsel in the Attorney General’s Chambers, where he contributed to significant legal frameworks and policies. Currently, he is the Secretary of the National Tea Policy Steering Committee, reflecting his commitment to advancing the interests of the tea sector.
Mr. Kirundi holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Nairobi and a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law, equipping him with the legal expertise necessary for his new role.
As he steps into this leadership position, Mr. Kirundi is expected to drive initiatives that will further strengthen KTDA Holdings and the broader tea industry, fostering sustainable growth and innovation in the sector.
