A scene of chaos erupted at Nyeri Upper Stage this morning as an irate passenger unleashed his fury on a group of touts following a fare dispute that escalated dramatically.
The incident began when a man, who had paid for a seat for himself and his wife, agreed to a stipulation that if the vehicle did not fill up within ten minutes, he would receive a refund. However, after waiting for thirty minutes without any indication that the vehicle would depart, the man demanded his money back.
Eyewitnesses reported that the touts, who initially dismissed the man’s request, were caught off guard by his growing frustration.
“He was calm at first, but after waiting for so long, you could see his patience wearing thin,” one witness recounted.
The situation quickly spiraled out of control when the touts refused to refund the fare, leading to a heated exchange.
What followed was a shocking display of violence as the man, fueled by anger, attacked the touts. Witnesses described how he descended upon them, leaving several of the touts beaten and half-naked, their clothes torn in the scuffle.
“It was terrifying. You could hear the shouts and see the chaos unfolding right before our eyes,” another bystander shared.
As the scene unfolded, onlookers gathered, some recording the incident on their phones, while others intervened to break up the fight. The police were summoned to the scene but arrived after the altercation had already reached its peak.
