Kianjoye Mbari Ya Nguraa village in Mukurwe-ini Constituency, Nyeri County, is engulfed in grief following the discovery of the body of Jane Wanjiru, a 26-year-old woman who had been missing for two weeks. Her remains were found in a well, prompting a search after residents noticed a foul odor emanating from the water source.
Wanjiru went missing after attending a New Year’s Eve church service on December 31, 2024. Her disappearance raised alarms in the community, leading to a desperate search for answers.
Local authorities are investigating the case, with a main suspect reportedly having been released from Mukurwe-ini Police Station prior to the discovery of Wanjiru’s body. Police believe she may have been raped before being murdered, with her remains allegedly dismembered and placed in a sack.
Area MP John Kaguchia condemned the violence, urging young people to resolve conflicts through dialogue rather than resorting to such heinous acts. The community mourns the tragic loss, calling for justice for Jane Wanjiru.
