In a show of support for Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, leaders from the Mt. Kenya region have stepped forward as a motion to impeach him was introduced in Parliament.
A group of legislators from Murang’a County has accused President William Ruto of orchestrating the impeachment efforts against Gachagua.
Among those voicing their concerns are MPs Edward Muriu (Gatanga), Mary Maua (Maragua), Peter Kihungi (Kangema), Joseph Munyoro (Kigumo), Chege Njuguna (Kandara), and Senator Joe Nyutu. They contend that the motion’s advancement to Parliament could only have occurred with President Ruto’s endorsement.
