Police are on the hunt for a suspect linked to the murder of Bonita Ngatha Kariuki, a 21-year-old first-year student at Karatina University. Mathira East Police Commander Samson Leweri says Kariuki was fatally stabbed by her boyfriend on Valentine’s Day in what appears to be a tragic incident of domestic violence.

The 25-year-old suspect is also a first-year student at the university. In connection with the case, two students who share a room with the suspect have been arrested and are currently assisting with the investigation.
Reports indicate that Bonita, who was pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Education, spent much of the day taking photographs with the suspect before later visiting his hostel room, where she was subsequently stabbed. The suspect fled the scene, and Bonita’s body has been transferred to the mortuary at Karatina Level Four Hospital.
