Nyandarua Senator Kaba Methu has openly criticized President William Ruto regarding the alarming issue of youth abductions in Kenya. Speaking at a recent press conference, Methu, a vocal ally of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, expressed his concerns for the safety of young Kenyans.
“Residents of Nyandarua often refer to me as ‘Turkana’ due to my black skin color, yet I remain committed to serving them, as they are the ones who elected me,” Methu stated. He urged the President to stop the violence and abductions, imploring him to consider the plight of parents across the nation.
“Stop beating our children, stop abducting them, don’t kill them because you are also a parent. If your child does not return home today, investigations would be immediately launched—even the FBI would be involved to help locate that child,” he emphasized. Methu’s comments highlighted a deep concern for the safety of children, calling for empathy from those in power.
He further urged President Ruto to accept scrutiny from the public, reminding him that he chose to run for the presidency without coercion. “Accept to be asked questions because nobody came for you at your home to vie for the presidency,” Methu asserted.
Drawing comparisons with past leaders, he noted that former President Mwai Kibaki had a humorous relationship with the youth, appearing on shows like XYZ without resorting to violence. “Former President Daniel Moi, despite his reputation, was also seen on Redykyulass without harming those who mimicked him,” he added.
In closing, Methu emphasized the importance of accountability and dialogue, urging President Ruto to engage with the youth rather than resorting to intimidation. “Even you, accept to be questioned. You are not being questioned because you have performed well,” he concluded, calling for a reassessment of how the youth are treated in the current political climate.
