Sheikh Uledi Majid, the chairman of the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (Supkem) Nyeri branch, was laid to rest yesterday at the Muslim Cemetery in Kiawara, Nyeri Town, in accordance with Muslim customs. The 80-year-old passed away on Monday evening after a short illness.

Majid was a respected community leader and former councillor, known for his active involvement in various community projects. His contributions to the Muslim community in Nyeri were significant, and he was regarded as a champion for Muslim inclusion and human rights.

Nyeri Senator Wahome Wamatinga offered his condolences via Facebook.
“As a dedicated advocate for Muslim inclusion in Nyeri County, a champion of human rights, and a friend to many, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of compassion and commitment to justice will continue to inspire us all. May he rest in peace,” Wamatinga posted.

Former Nyeri Woman Representative Priscilla Nyokabi also mourned Majid.
“Uledi Majid served Nyeri well as a great community leader and former councillor. Nyeri Town is poorer without him. He straddled the Majengo, Kiawara, and Witemere area and provided much-needed leadership to the Muslim community. May God give his family peace and solace at this difficult time,” Nyokabi posted.
