Kapsaret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has disclosed that there were three separate attempts to impeach former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. In a video shared on his social media accounts on January 20, Sudi explained that these impeachment efforts were thwarted thanks to the timely intervention of President William Ruto and his allies.
Sudi claimed that President Ruto played a crucial role in halting the first two impeachment proposals aimed at Gachagua. He further noted that during the third attempt, the current Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah also stepped in to prevent the proceedings.
“The first impeachment was submitted, and the President returned it. The second was brought forth, and again, the President intervened. When the third attempt arose, Kindiki, Ichung’wah, and I, among others, took action,” Sudi stated.
In a separate critique, Sudi admonished Gachagua for suggesting that Ruto had been instructing him on what to say during public engagements. He accused Gachagua of trying to stir emotions and sow discord among Kenyans.
“Everything that led to your removal was personal. You know what you demanded, and it was unattainable. Soon, the truth will emerge,” Sudi asserted.
He questioned Gachagua’s claims about Ruto’s influence
“Do you really believe that Ruto was writing your speeches? Even if Kenyans were naive, such a notion is hard to accept. I was once your biggest supporter, but I cautioned you about your inexperience and hasty ambitions,” added Sudi.
